It’s the time of the year again, Arizona Restaurant Week (ARW). The biannual event is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year.
Celebrating a Decade of Delicious
If you haven’t yet experienced Arizona Restaurant Week, make sure you do this year. Participating restaurants have a prix-fixe menu for either $33 or $44. Such a great opportunity to try a new (new to you) restaurant. Phoenix has such an incredible food scene and this is an excellent way to experience and support it.
Arizona Restaurant Week is September 15th – 24th. Lots of time to check out one, or two, or more… For the complete list of participating restaurants check out the website.
I was invited to the media preview event where we got to sample a few of the ARW offerings with stops to Herb Garden, Market Street Kitchen and Flemings, all in the DC Ranch community of Scottsdale. I, unfortunately, had to leave early and missed the dessert course at Flemings (leave before dessert?? yes, sadly).
First stop, The Herb Box to sample the 1st-course offerings.
All 3 dishes were amazing. My favorite was the Kale, Corn and Sweet Onion Pakora. Tender, crunchy and just amazing. Somewhat unexpected and even people who admitted to not like Kale said they loved it. The Korean Fried Cauliflower was also quite tasty – tender with a spicy sauce (but not too spicy). And finally, the Smoke Trout Beignets were also delicious. One thing to note is the Herb Box menu had gluten free and vegan options on their ARW menu which is always welcome for those of us with dietary restrictions and preferences.
On to Market Street Kitchen for the second-course sampling.
Fried Chicken, Cod and Pork Chops. So hard to pick a favorite as each was so delicious. The Rotessorie Fried Chicken was so tender and juicy with the perfect crunchy crust. The Ling Cod was tasty with the Ratatouille Napoleon side. And the Pork Chops, don’t those look amazing? I couldn’t stop eating the Savory Apple Bread Pudding.
Arizona Restaurant Week is produced by the Arizona Restaurant Association and this year sponsors include Sanderson Ford, Sanderson Lincoln, Young’s Market, American Express, Open Table, and the Arizona Office of Tourism.
disclosure: I was invited to the Media Dine Around event for Arizona Restaurant Week so I could share my experience. All opinions are my own.
