From the owners of Market Street Kitchen in DC Ranch, Scottsdale, Liberty Station Tavern opened this month in North Scottsdale (border of Carefree). Welcomed to an area with limited restaurants, it was already buzzing with locals.
The menu includes some North-Eastern favorites inspired by the owners’ roots in Boston. With one of Camelback Smokers‘ giant smokers they’re smoking brisket and who doesn’t crave more barbecue?
I have a confession – when I saw on Camelback Smokers instagram page that they were building a smoker for a new restaurant, I stalked their feed until they announced where’d they were place one of their amazing smokers. If you’ve followed me for awhile, you know I LOVE BBQ.
We started with a few ‘sharables’. The House Herbed Ricotta is made in-house. Drunken PEI Mussels with smoked pork and a local amber ale.
Soups and Salads. The clam chowder, one of their New England dishes, was flavored with bacon adding extra deliciousness. Liberty Chopped Salad with Champagne Vinaigrette, Apple, Carrot, Onion, Walnuts, Croutons.
The Fish and Chips is made with Cod and is one of the BEST Fish and Chips I’ve ever add. And the Brisket – I was looking forward to this all day. Delicious, tender and smokey.
The cocktails are classic, some with a twist. We sampled 4 cocktails from their menu: Desert Rose, Manhattan, 50/50 Martini and “Falernum, Damn Near Killed ‘Em!”. The Desert Rose was a refreshing way to start the evening with Tito’s Vodka, Lillet Rose and Lemon. Loved the twist to the Manhattan – High West Double Rye, Cynar 70, Alessio Vermouth, and bitters.
My picks
Top Eats – Drunken PEI Mussels, Smoked fish, Fish and Chips and the Texas Brisket.
