I’m very excited for this news. I love attending seminars centered around wine or spirits. You learn something new, you get to enjoy some tasty drinks and spend some time with people who share your interests. Mountain Shadows’ Spirited Sipping Seminars is a perfect way to spend a Saturday afternoon.
Last year I attended their Tiki cocktail class and we all had a blast mixing up some cocktails and I’m so excited to see these returning. This time they’ve added in wine and beer seminars to the schedule so what ever is your choice of drink, they got you covered. Or try something new and you never know if you find a new favorite.

Recently I had the opportunity to attend Rosés Around the World. To me, Rosé is the perfect summer afternoon drink. It’s what you’ll find me enjoying poolside at home on a weekend so I was excited to learn a bit more about my favorite summer wine. Not knowing much about Rosé, I was just picking based on a label I liked.

We tasted 3 wines. Each one was so different in taste, color, and smell. Jim Gallen, Food and Beverage director for Mountain Shadows, led the seminar. Jim is so passionate and knowledgeable about wine.
Campuget Syrah Vermentino 2017
Poggio Anima Raphael Terre Siciliane 2017

My favorite? They were all delicious in their unique ways. My topic was the Chronic Cellars. I would be perfectly happy sipping this all summer on my raft in my pool (or even better, poolside at Mountain Shadows…have you experienced their pool yet….stunning). Made from 87% Granache and 13% Syrah full of flavor with hints of cherry and pomegranate.
Ever wondered where the pink color comes from? When grapes are juiced, whether they are red or white, the juice is clear. The color comes from the skins. Rosé is made from red grapes and the juice is soaked with the skins for a short amount of time giving it the lovely pink color.
